Harbiye is 7 km away from Hatay city center and is located on the highway E-91 connecting to Suriye and thus to the Middle East via Yayladağı. It is 55 km away from the Syrian border. The communal organization of Harbiye is founded in 1939 which is the date of Hatay’s accession to the homeland. Harbiye is known all over the world as the historical Daphne. It is not the most elegant and cute district of Hatay only but also of the South Anatolian Region. Since is is located on the highway connecting the Middle East to Turkey it is a place of call , place of accomodation and entertainment for the tourists coming from those countries and a favourable picnic area of the region. The town is all green and has plenty of waters . Once one comes here it is rather difficult to leave this town which invites you there with its beauties. Harbiye where all sorts of vegetables and fruits are grown is highly favoured by tourists , especially by those coming from Middle East countries. The restaurants, touristic hotels, pensions and places of entertainment have improved a lot. There are many family type pensions and 5 hotels with two of them holding operating licence. During summer some of the population rent part of their houses to tourists in order to cover the increasing demand of the tourists. Except the accomodation and dining facilities in Harbiye , there are other dining facilities serving food in the waterfalls district as well . Harbiye is worldwide famous for its handworks. Sculpture is rather improved. Many orders of the Ministry of Tourism are met here. The natural silk produced in the district with workbenches are highly demanded in the country. It has an extensive market across Turkey in souvenir production and helve knitting.
