Is the best preserved part of the city walls in
Bodrum that reached the present day. T
he Port of Myndos is made mention of together with the
Asian campaign of
Alexander the Great. This port has been restored with contributions of
Turkcell and
Ericsson. The
Karians and
Persians defending the city against
Alexander’s army organized a sudden attack. The
Halicarnassians who exited from the
Port of
Myandos attacked the enemy by passing over the bridge built over the ditch encountered a very strong defence and started to flee to return to the city. The bridge over the ditch demolished and the ports of the city were closed earlier due panic leaving many soldiers outside.
Halicarnassians who got back to the inner castle burned a part of the city.
Alexander who conquered the city left the reign over to
Princess Ada and a garrison comprising 2500 soldiers and continued his way. The first stage of the restoration works of the walls and towers standing in the north of this port was completed in 1999.
